THANKS HUBBY!

This weekend my wonderful hubby whisked me away for my birthday to a nice city near us. We had a great time eating some local food, did a little shopping, and tried our best to stay warm. We got to see a fabulous Broadway play - Wicked. All in all we had fun. I scored some great bargains - $4 Christmas ornament at Saks, who can beat that. I can now say I have shopped at Saks 5th Ave, because I have the bag to prove it.

Thanks hubby for a wonderful birthday present - I LOVE YOU!!

Can you tell it is 18 degrees and we are freezing?

Kids...say funny things.

This morning I told the girls who our next president is going to be. They didn't watch the returns one because it is somewhat boring, two they wanted to watch "Kitt Kittredge". When we decided to watch it my oldest said that it may be appropriate to watch that movie because if Obama wins we will be in a great depression. Then this morning when I told the younger one, her quote - "he's a potato head". I think there may be a little truth in that - you don't know what face he will put on.

All I know is the gov't will take care of everything. Who do you want gov't bailout or Jesus Christ the leader of all taking care of you?

John 16:33 - "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

This was not the seen at our house last night.

He won by a landslide!

We just held our mock election at our school today. The McCain/Palin ticket won by a landslide. Myself, the girls, and all animals and dolls voted. The dolls and animals were able to vote thanks to ACORN's ability to register them as voters Little did ACORN know that they were going to vote republican. It was a good clean election - not a long wait, no hanging chads, proper id's, and everyone had a verifiable address. It was a good clean election and was able to call it when the voting was done. The lawyers were sad that we didn't need them to go and prepare anything.

Here's hoping this will truly happen tomorrow.

Be an Informed Voter!!!

Road to Victory!!!

Tonight we have the privilege to sing in the choir for the John McCain rally tonight. It was a lot of fun getting in before other people and being around other people of like political persuasion. We took the girls (no hubby did not sing in choir) as part of a civics/government/history class. They are very excited about this election. The girls told us at dinner tonight that they would possible be mad if McCain doesn't win. I think they are more excited for Sarah Palin. Here are a couple of pics from the night, and I may post more later.
As you can see we have pretty good seats.

This is my favorite sign of the night.

Truly Left (lost) Coast

I was perusing my normal blogs this morning and ran across this post in one of them. It makes me thankful that I homeschool my children and are not subjected to a field trip like this one. I also wonder where the parents were to say no to this type of field trip. And you wonder why other countries are passing us in education. This little trip was not educational. It was to serve their own liberal agenda. Please read her post and then click on the article she linked in her post. Be careful if you don't want to raise your blood pressure or lose your lunch.

Nice Getaway!

This past weekend hubby and I were able to getaway for a few days to a pastor's conference. This was not your typical minister's conference to learn more about how to do church, but a time for a pastors and their wives to come and recharge and gain encouragement. It is called the Timothy/Barnabas Conference which is done by Johnny and Janet Hunt from FBC Woodstock. He is the senior pastor there as well as the current SBC President. He has a heart for ministers and wanting them to be the best they can be and to help them not to burn out.

Many pastor's today are under alot of pressure and are subject to the same moral failures as everyone in the world. Satan is working overtime to attack pastors and their families. He is wanting to attack the integrity of minister's and discredit everything minister's say and do. I amazed to learn about the amount of minister's who have a moral failures. It just shows that we are not immune to this, and how much you should pray for ministers everywhere.

Noel and I are praying and trying to everything we can do with God's help to protect his ministry, our marriage, and our girls. So if it may seem like an inconvenience to some - we are protecting our family.

Thank you church for letting us be gone for a few days, and thanks Beth for watching our girls! Also another bonus was getting to each lunch with some of our friends in AL and eating Mata's pizza.

Interesting Weekend

With the coverage of Ike, football, church members in hospitals it was a busy weekend. I was suppose to host a baby shower at my home Saturday, but the baby has other plans and came early so the shower has been postponed. Congrats Brian and Minna!

This weekend was also the big rivalry game in the Dear Family - MSU vs Auburn. True Dear family style and by an agreement we watch the game in separate rooms and now separate floors. There was nailbitting, heart racing, and frustration. It was not a pretty game if anyone saw it as can be attested to by the score AU 3 - MSU 2. As Boomama commented "the game has aged me". All I can saw about the game as it was ugly!

My favorite thing that made me laugh and still does every time I see it is Geraldo getting knocked over by a wave on national TV. In case you missed it. Here it is.

The aftermath of Hurricane Ike reached us last night. It was VERY windy with gusts up to 60 mph. We only had power in part of our church last night and had our service "unplugged". It was a pretty cool service. We had the Lord's Supper service and it took me back to what it may have been like if Jesus was doing it Himself. We did loose a tree at the church and as I write this post electricity is still out there and to much our county. Thankfully we have power, but I think it is due to the fact that our power it run underground. I am also thankful we had no damage to our home or family. Most of the schools are out today because of downed trees and do not know when power will be back on.

Everyone have a good week! LATER PEEPS!

Guess Who is Hitting the Trail?

Sen. McCain has asked us to join him on the "Straight Talk Express" to help him campaign. His bus was at church today to pick us up. We are very excited to work with him and Gov. Palin.
Sorry just kidding. His bus was at our church this morning and his bus driver was in our service, and we did get on the bus. It was quite the buzz around the church this morning.

ProLife and Proud of IT!!!

In light of the upcoming election my hubby preached a sermon on homesexuality and abortion. He is very passionately against these, and for electing officials who are against them as well. Here is the link to that sermon part 1 and part 2.

It's the most wonderful time of the year!!

FOOTBALL!FOOTBALL!FOOTBALL! What an exciting weekend! Our families teams are on TV today, time warner people should be happy that they have BTN, and it is a long weekend! School has start around here at the Dear household and our first week went pretty well. We have not started all subjects, but going well. The only downer we had to start the weekend off was hubs little fender bender on the interstate. Everyone is fine - praise the Lord - but the car will be in the shop for a while. Up side - football all day today!

If you happen to have caught GameDay today you may have seen an interview with Tim Tebow from Florida, all I can say is WOW! What God is doing with him, and what he wants to do for God is truly amazing. He is not afraid to go anywhere to share the Good News of Jesus. If you can find that video it is incredible.

I almost forgot - very happy with the pick for republican vp - Go Sarah Go!! Yea for mom everywhere!!

Well I must get back to football - GO DAWGS!!! and WAR EAGLE!!

Family Memories

This week our family has been making memories of outing we have never done. We had planned on going to the Ohio State Fair this week, but we decided to check out the Hartford Fair instead. Pastor Wally had mentioned how their family enjoys it and decided to go especially since it was closer. Mostly we went for foods on sticks.

First night we went we enjoyed a stunt show. It was exciting, but when you have seen the stunt show spectacular as Disneyworld it pales in comparison. We did find though delicious corn dogs and fried cheese on a stick.

Last night hubs was wanting another delicious corn dog from the fair so we decided to go again. It was the truck and tractor pull night. Oh, my it is some high class entertainment. Granted it was fun to see the the tractor would make it far, see the smoke billowing out it, and to decrease your hearing all at the same time. I knew it was going to be loud, but not THAT loud. It was fun, but enjoyed looking at the people that were there. If you like to people watch go to a local fair.

We also enjoyed looking at animals. Where else can you enjoy entertainment like a tractor pull mixed with the smell of fried food and manure. I joke and kid but we really had fun. Go support your local fair and eat some corndogs. I am just sorry I did not take my camera to catch all the action.

for once please get it right!

Why is it when we go to this particular restaurant our order is wrong or the meal or REALLY slow getting to us. This is not an occasional occurrence but every time. We use to go there some what often or get takeout, but we rarely go. Tonight was the 2nd time this year we went to this particular restaurant and once again problem with the order! UGH!!! For starters 2 of us got our order and the other 2 had to what like 10 min. before getting theirs. When hubby got his wings they were cold. I had ordered these burger minis and had eaten half of one then it just too pink and then after trying to eat the other it was almost raw. I just pray I do not get salmonella, ecoli, or something like that. It is just frustrating even trying to find our server. We were able to see the manager and he did not charge us for the meal.

I have filled out a complaint online before, but never received a reply back. I am wondering if I should even bother again. What has happened to customer service. I am not sure if I will visit this restaurant again, maybe in another city. Thank you for listening to my complaint.

Our Family Picture

WE'RE BACK!

After a much needed vacation we are back home. We had a great time hanging out as a family without the phone ringing or dsl. The weather was wonderful - hot, often humid, but always a breeze. This year was fun because we were able to meet up with some friends and family. We had dinner a couple of nights with the Chicos and one night with the Morfords. Nana and Papa Jim came up for the weekend as well.

Here are some highlights of the trip:
  • 3 dozen Krispy Kreme donuts
  • hours sitting on the beach doing nothing.
  • finishing a book
  • wonderful seafood
  • being awaken with grande sugar free vanilla latte - thanks hubby
  • boat trip - girls favorite
  • finding some AWESOME deals shopping and shopping in general
  • trying to beat hubs in wii pool
  • found our new fav wii game - Big Beach Games
  • watching 4th of July fireworks on the beach
  • hermit crabs
  • seeing the new American Girl movie - Kit Kittredge. (by the way this is a very good movie and we highly recommend seeing)

As you can see we had a great time, but now back to life. I will try to post pics later.

Sorry for the Delay

I know it has been awhile since I have blogged. I have other things I should be doing, but I will give a brief update since we have last been together.
  • I have a pinched nerve in my back so that limits how long I can sit without being in pain.
  • Had strep throat - YUCK!!
  • Thankfully made it to the girls dance recital, even though I think I still had a fever. They did a great job. Hubs was wonderful during that week - taking care of me, shuffling the girls to their practices, and still working.
  • The youngest had a birthday.
  • School has sorta come to an end. We still have a few things left to do.
  • Attended the SBC convention and took the girls this time. They loved their conference.
  • Getting ready for the beach!
  • Working on VBS.

The best thing that has happened is that our oldest shared her faith with a friend at church last night. The girl comes occasionally to church, and she wanted to know more about Jesus. I am proud that she was bold enough and knew what verses to share. I asked her what she used - John 3:16 and Romans 3:23. She used the Bible to show the verses, but she did get Pastor Wally to help her. God is going to using her in a mighty way already at the age of 9. I am thankful for her boldness and willingness to do it. I wish I had her boldness.

Hookt on foniks

As many of you know we are a homeschooling family. Our youngest is learning phonics and we are almost through learning the special sounds. She is a very good reader for her age. There are alot of them out there and some can throw you for a loop. The English language is pretty odd if you think about it.

Today hubby and I were presented with a word today that I figured out before he did. The little one was IMing him (because you know we are a techno savvy family) and received this message. We all had a great laugh and when you look at it - it does make sense. It is a phrase we here often at our home from hubby. Let us see if you can figure it out.

Coming up to breathe

we may be coming out of the fog. fevers are over, but my throat has been a little scratchy and now hubs sinuses may be kicking. he did fail to read the zyrtec bottle when it said 1 tablet every 24 hours if not it will make you sleepy.

I think we may have the plague

For the past 2 weeks we have been swimming in the sea of tissues and snot. Gross I know. Top it off I have been down with a pinched nerve in my lower back - painful but thanks to the chiropractor I am now feeling some relief. Yesterday we were presented with one kid with a fever stomach ache and no appetite and the other pink eye. YEAH throw in vomiting and diarrhea I think we would have a trifecta. So, this morning we were at the doctor bright and early. I was hoping for a twofer, sorry. I am glad and thankful we don't , but for the cost of seeing a doctor we should have had strep.

  • Diagnosis virus and pinkeye. - $$$
  • Medicine for pinkeye and warts on leg(didn't get that filled - wow at the price) - $$ ($$$ if I purchased the wart medicine)
  • Trying to get eye drops in your oldest who is worried it will hurt and is already complaining before I get the bottle open - PRICELESS. Really for what I paid will the dr. come do it for me?

Will someone come bathe my home in Purell?

I now know I am not from Ohio

The girls have started learning about their next state for school - Ohio. It was a random selection, so I have started looking up info for school other that what we got from the library. I ran across this and it is safe to say I know I am not from Ohio. Enjoy!

You know you're from Ohio if...
  • You don't think of Florida first when someone mentions Miami.
  • You snicker when someone's from Tiffin, because you think of the State Hospital.
  • You think Pro football teams are supposed to wear orange!
  • You've heard of 3.2% beer. Schools close for the state basketball tournament. Deer season, too.
  • You're proud of your state fair, but would rather go to Cedar Point.
  • You know all the 4 seasons: Winter, Still Winter, Almost Winter, and Construction.
  • You live less than 30 miles from some college or university.
  • You know what a buckeye really is, and have a recipe for candy ones.
  • "Toward the lake" means "north" and "toward the river" means "south."
  • You've heard of the Great Nickel Beer Night Riot.
  • You know if other Ohioians are from southern or northern Ohio as soon as they open their mouths.
  • You root for a college team though you've never taken a class there.
  • You can spell words like Cuyahoga, Olentangy, Bellefontaine, and Tuscarawas *(Wapakoneta?) and you know which letter is doubled in "Cincinnati."
  • You always visit more than two amusement parks in one summer.
  • You know that Serpent Mounds were not made by snakes.
  • You know what game they're playing when the Mud Hens take on the Clippers.
  • "Vacation" means spending a day at Cedar Point or King's Island.
  • You measure distance in minutes.
  • Down south to you means Kentucky.
  • Your school classes were canceled because of cold.
  • Your school classes were canceled because of heat.
  • You've ridden the school bus for an hour each way.
  • You've ever had to switch from "heat" to "A/C" in the same day.
  • You know what's knee-high by the Fourth of July.
  • You end your sentences with an unnecessary preposition. Example: "Where's my coat at?"
  • You install security lights on your house and garage and leave both unlocked.
  • You think of the major four food groups as beef, pork, beer, and Jell-O salad with marshmallows.
  • You carry jumper cables in your car.
  • You know what pop is.
  • You design your kid's Halloween costume to fit over a snowsuit.
  • Driving is better in the winter because the potholes are filled with snow.
  • You think sexy lingerie is tube socks and a flannel nightie.
  • The local paper covers national and international headlines on one page but requires 6 pages for sports.
  • You think that deer season is a national holiday.
  • You know which leaves make good toilet paper.
  • You thought that the Michael Stanley Band was the most popular band in the country.
  • You actually understand these jokes then forward 'em to all your OH friends!!

So are you from Ohio?

Another interesting tibit

very interesting.

What.. Do my ears deceive me?

Got home last night and we knew no one was getting voted off AI last night. So I didn't really want to see the giving back. I am glad they are, but I just want to see rich stars asking for money. So, hubby and I were watching other things when we flipped over to fox to watch the news when we heard ...." Shout to the Lord all the earth let us sing..." WHAT - OH MY GOODNESS!! How fabulous. I heard they took out Jesus' name, but still it is out there. The Lord's name is out there! Could you image the impact that show could have for Jesus? If you caught Jason Castro's performance a couple of weeks was "Travelin" which actually mentions Jesus. I was thinking - maybe Mandisa had a great impact while she was there.

Did anyone else here this?

Spreading Conservatism

Hubby and I got take a lovely trip to Boston this past weekend thanks to Northwest and Mom! When we knew we had to use our tickets we were trying to decide between Miami, Boston, and a few other locales. I wanted Miami because it is WARM, but we chose Boston because it was closer and our time would not be used up in the air.

It was a lovely trip except for the rain on Friday. Since it was raining we decided to put our rental car to good use. It was a fabulous car that we will never own unless it is very used. Thanks for the free upgrade Enterprise! We walked around Boston on our first day and then the rainy day we drove to Cape Cod. We had planned to go to Martha's Vineyard, but found out the lifestyle of people on the island and decided that we didn't care to see all that. Second option, Nantucket, but no - too much to put that car on the ferry. So, we drove to the tip of the cape. We tried to see the Kennedy Compound in Hyannisport, but were afraid to be attacked by some rogue family member. Seeing these seaside villages was very neat and to know some of these homes have been around for a LONG time. It was pretty cool seeing the Cape rainy and foggy.

Many of you may be wondering about the food - New England Clam Chowder - #1 - I may never be able to eat it at Red Lobster's again. Fresh crab cake - Mmmm Good!

Here are a few pics. Enjoy!

I bet they all wish they had theirs too...

Today was the exciting day at the WOUB television and radio stations in Athens. If you trying to listen to her today sorry, but I think it is going to be on Sunday. Once production is done we will receive a copy of the radio broadcast and a dvd of the animated book. She did a great job. If you do happen to hear the broadcast, sorry I can't shake the southern accent. Both girls were well behaved and had a great time. The station did a great job recognizing the talent, but next time too many kids in small room. Thankfully it was only 2nd and 3rd graders.

Here are a few pics from the day

Don't all news people have peanut butter with the news.

Here is Hannah reading her story on the radio. Great job and very eloquent.

Please notice the little girl in front of the green screen. I thought her outfit went very well with the green. Great job - one take!(almost)

Here is the producer of this lovely production. ALOT of buttons to push, and thankfully I was able to keep dear hubby away from them.

Busy Times

It is almost spring, and we are longing for warmer weather and anticipating our annual trip to the beach. We only have about 2 months of school left - YEAH!! End of school activities are picking up. This past weekend Hannah participated in the CHEO Showcase with is for homeschoolers ages 8 and up to participate in different categories and showcase their talents. Hannah performed in the piano category and entered her "Seasons" poem to be judged. She did very well. She received a "Well Done" in piano and "Excellent" on her poem. She did great for her first Showcase. It was just a long day.

This week will be busy with our trip to Athens with the girls. You can listen to Hannah and the other children's books 10:30-11:30 a.m. on http://www.woub.org/ AM radio on Wednesday. She is excited. Then hubby and I head out of town for a couple of days. I think it will be a nice break before things really kick into high gear, with things such as Global Focus, parties, recitals, and various other adventures.

Everyone have a good week. Stay dry!

HAPPY RESURECTION DAY!!!

HE LIVES!!
I serve a risen Saviour,
He's in the world today;
I know that He is living,
Whatever men may say;
I see His hand of mercy,
I hear His voice of cheer,
And just the time I need Him
He's always near.
In all the world around me
I see His loving care,
And tho my heart grows weary
I never will despair;
I know that He is leading
Thro' all the stormy blast,
The day of His appearing
Will come at last.
Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian,
Lift up your voice and sing
Eternal hallelujahs
To Jesus Christ the King!
The hope of all who seek Him,
The help of all who find,
None other is so loving,
So good and kind.
He lives, He lives,
Christ Jesus lives today!
He walks with me and He talks with me
Along life's narrow way.
He lives, He lives,
Salvation to impart!
You ask me how I know He lives:
He lives within my heart.

Good Friday!

TGIF! Thank God it is Friday! This is so often used, but do we really thank Him for it? Should we thank Him for every day. Today is an important day for christians everywhere. Everyone celebrates it in different ways. Some just think it is day off work or school, but it is the day our Lord suffered for us. He took every sin we have or ever commited paid for it TODAY!!! When I think back to the movie "The Passion of the Christ" I am just humbled and sorrowed for what my Lord endured for me. Just to think he would do that for me a wretched sinner. We as humans do not deserve it, but thankfully He did it anyway. Be thankful you have another day.

If you are a first time visitor to my site and have no idea what I am talking about, or would like to know about my Lord click here or go to our church's website or contact my hubby. It is one decision that will change the rest of your life.

BLIZZARD 08 - Pics Finally!!!

After a long day of shoveling the driveway and deck we ventured out to see if we could have church on Sunday. This is the way Main St. looked. We are at the corner of 33rd and Main.

This is the view out our front door. You can see the deep ruts in the snow. No one was getting out this early.

Remember the plants in the above picture. Here they are after the shoveling. Sorry Greg, I hope they will survive.

Here are Hannah and Emily standing next to the mail box on a snow bank. No, our mailbox is not that short, it is the snow bank that tall.

Hubby wanted everyone to know how deep the snow was he had been shoveling. Ask him how much the snowed weighed on the deck. It was ALOT of snow!!! I did help not just take pictures.

Thankfully in the afternoon the snowplow came and the entire street cheered them on. After they came thru it allow some good sledding on the street. We did have one snow bank we shoveled come up to my thigh. Did I say we had ALOT of snow?

what is up with google? i am trying to post pics, but it is not working. hopefully it will soon. has everyone dug themselves out? no cow racing but we did play carnival games. note to self - let hubby go first in a new game.

Gross Weather!!

For all you readers not in the midwest, our weather is really gross currently - level 2 snow emergency, bad roads and snow for 2 days with potential 17 inches - YUCK!! We were planning a family outing to a hockey game, but now staying in and watching the snow. Maybe we can strike up a game of Cow Racing on the Wii.

Anyway, I have been playing with some pictures on photoshop and wanting to see what ya'll think.

A few notable things

Last week has been a little crazy with hubs coming home, basketball, Awana grand prix, etc.
  • Awana Grand Prix - this was Hannah first adventure into the world or making a car to race it. I let hubs take over in this area except I did help in the naming of the car. She was soooo excited about this, and little did we know how excited when it became actual race day. I was thankful hubby was able to be there. It was originally the week before when he was out of town, but thanks to a "little" snow it was postponed til this past week. I had to rotate between Emily racing her Hot Wheels car in Sparkys and the BIG ONE. Sadly I think I missed Emily's little race. Hannah car - THE BEDDAR CHEDDAR - performed well. It came in 2nd and 3rd in all its races. The one thing she most wanted was the Novelty Award. There were 3 divisions in which you could win something -- the actual race, car design, and novelty car. Guess what - she won 1st in novelty. Oh you should have seen her face. You would have thought Ed McMahon had shown up and given her a giant check. Hubby just want everyone to be afraid for next year. We will give Jim Prater a run for his money.

  • UPWARD Basketball - one word for you OVER!!!! It was a good year with great coaches. Hannah is learning some good fundamentals of the game. She had a great last game with 6 points. Emily made 3 baskets this entire season and SADLY I missed everyone of them because of the trasporting Hannah to her games. THANK YOU Hubby for taping her score in the last game.
We are just happy hubby is home. Maybe if I remember I will take a picture of the sign we held up at the airport. We did get someone asking if hubs was in the service. I said no, but that he was on a mission trip. The man did say that was good too. I don't know if hubby will post this picture or not, but here is the little boy named after him in Kenya. Many of you heard of the story last night about that came to be. Hubby was able to do a baby dedication there and able to lead the father to Christ during the dedication. The mom was already a believer. After the service they changed the baby's name to my hubby's name. So he now has a little African spiritual son. You should have heard the entire church awe over that.

Dear hubs is FINALLY home!!! About 10:05 we saw him walking down the terminal. The TSA lady would not let us go beyond the red line but we got close. We had our signs and could see him grinning a mile away. It is could to have him back home and with presents!!

I have looked at some of the pictures and can't wait to hear all the stories.
